Dog's mouth taped shut with electrical tape Sinking Spring, PA (US)Incident Date: Tuesday, Oct 14, 2008 County: Berks
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Galen Robinson
A Sinking Spring man was charged Thursday with taping a dog's mouth shut because the animal was barking, borough police said.
Galen Robinson, 29, of the first block of South Hull Street was charged with animal cruelty, investigators said. He will be mailed a summons, police said.
Police Chief James Oxenreider gave this account:
On Oct. 14, someone saw the dog with its mouth taped shut in Robinson's yard.
The dog, a 3-year-old cocker spaniel, had electrical tape wrapped around its snout.
"The dog was digging at his skin to get the tape off," Oxenreider said.
Robinson was angry at the dog because it was barking incessantly.
A veterinarian who examined the dog said its mouth had been taped shut for at least a week.
