Dog severely neglected, maggot infested wound
Chattanooga, TN (US)

Incident Date: Sunday, Oct 19, 2008
County: Hamilton

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Kenneth Bernard Brady

Police said Kenneth Bernard Brady went to the trouble of digging a grave for his ailing German Shepherd, but apparently did not provide proper care for the dog.

Brady, of 3100 Crescent Circle, is charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

An animal care officer said he found the adult dog next to the house "in severe medical distress."

He said the dog was having trouble standing and had an open abdominal wound with maggots and debris on the wound.

The dog was very skinny and had no food or water available, it was stated.

The German Shepherd was taken from the residence to be put down due to the "severe injury and distress" to the dog.
