A cat in Prince George's County needs a home -- and police need a suspect -- after someone set the cat on fire in District Heights.

On Sunday, someone found the burned cat, Mattie, hiding under a stairwell at the Penn Landing Apartments. Police are considering the animal cruelty a felony.

Mattie's being cared for at the Charles County Humane Society facility in Waldorf. Some of the wounds have begun to heal, but veterinarians still don't know if there is muscle or nerve damage.

After months of treatment and healing, Mattie will be available for adoption. Anyone interested in adopting Mattie should contact the Humane Society of Charles County at 301-645-8181.

Anyone with information about the crime should contact, the Prince George's County Department of Environmental Services and Animal Management at 301-499-8307.
