Case UpdatesHe's accused of animal cruelty, but a Terre Haute man says he's no animal abuser.
Police arrested Brad Fox, 19, last week for neglecting four pit bulls. Animal control officers found the dogs at Fox's house on Dillman St. in Terre Haute. One of the dogs nearly died. "I didn't do that. I didn't neglect my dogs," Brad Fox said as he left court Monday morning.
Prosecutors charged Fox with one felony count of animal cruelty and four misdemeanor counts. Many want to know how the littlest of the dogs was hurt, and if the animals were used in illegal dog fights.
"Man, it got ate up by one of my big pitts, a two-year-old dog," Fox said.
Fox says the vet he took the dog to shouldn't have let him take the dog home if it was in such bad shape. Fox's attorney, Dan Weber, says he's angry his client's case moved from city court to the county. "The prosecutor's office has decided more or less to change gears and put these charges over here as felony charges, rather than to leave them in city court where the original decision was made," Weber said.
"We had a veterinarian look at the dogs, and then it was determined that a felony charge was appropriate. So, that's why it was brought over and we would do the same thing on any of the other cases over here," Terry Modesitt, Vigo County Prosecutor said.
Fox says he loved his dogs and did not hurt them. "No, I ain't fighting none of them dogs. They cost $800. Why would I take a chance on losing $800 in a fight?"
Fox remains in the Vigo County Jail on $35,000 bond. He'll be back in court on Thursday. | Source: WHITV - Oct 6, 2008 Update posted on Oct 6, 2008 - 6:27PM |
