Dog shot
Cumming, GA (US)

Incident Date: Thursday, Sep 25, 2008
County: Forsyth

Charges: Felony CTA
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Jonathan Hee

A Forsyth County man faces multiple charges after he allegedly shot a neighbor's dog Thursday afternoon.

According to reports, Sheriff's Capt. Frank Huggins said 51-year-old Jonathan Hee was walking in his neighborhood, Green Summers Subdivision, when a neighbor's 10-month old Beagle-Lab mix named "Buster" ran from a yard at 4570 Sloan Ridge and ran up to Hee. The dog's owner, Laura Hanson, ran after the dog with a leash and grabbed it.

At that point, Huggins said, Hee pulled a handgun from his pocket, causing Hanson to release the dog's leash. Hee then shot the dog several times. He immediately left the scene of the shooting, which was witnessed by several of Hanson's neighbors. Huggins said the dog is expected to survive.

Hee was charged with felony cruelty to animals. He was also charged with several misdemeanors: disorderly conduct, discharging a firearm from a public road and reckless conduct.

Hee was taken into custody at his home and taken to jail. He was released from the Forsyth County jail Thursday night on a $3,520 bond. His first court appearance is set for Oct. 15.
