Dog drowned in bathtub, left in dumpster
Fort Smith, AR (US)

Incident Date: Sunday, Jun 22, 2008
County: Sebastian

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Kristy Marcoe

Fort Smith Police said in an interview Monday [Sept 29, 2008] that Kristy Marcoe may have drowned her dog back in June 2008.

In a filed police report officers describe going to an apartment complex on North 39th Street where they found a small dog in the Dumpster.

According to police reports, Kristy Marcoe filled her bathtub with water and drowned her dog, Pedro, after she thought he bit a child. Marcoe then placed the dog in the Dumpster.

Sgt. Levi Risley with the Fort Smith Police Department said the action could have been prevented. "She could have called the Fort Smith Police Department and we would have dispatched a warden to investigate the dog bite and take the animal off her hands."

Marcoe has been charged with animal cruelty in this case and will go before a judge Thursday.
