A $500 reward has been posted by the Protective Animal Welfare Society (P.A.W.S.) for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the shooting and hanging of Jack Rayburn's family pet.
Rayburn says a state trooper notified him that his dog had been shot and was hanging from a tree at 7:15 a.m., June 24th, in the Kolin community.
The dog, Junior, was a five-year-old Catahoula weighing 80 to 100 pounds.
The dog's body was cut down by Rapides Parish Sheriff's Department animal control officers and taken to the animal shelter in Alexandria for investigation.
