Cat stolen from child care center Clearwater, FL (US)Incident Date: Thursday, Apr 24, 2003 County: Pinellas
Disposition: Open
Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!
Mrs. Tatarow, owner and director of the Romper Room child care center at 5295 East Bay Drive, knew something was wrong. She drove to Pinellas County Animal Services, the Humane Society and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, but had no luck. She got on the phone and frantically called several other shelters, to no avail.
Every day, Romper would follow kids to the playroom and curl up with them at nap time. He never seemed to mind the kids fawning on him, Mrs. Tatarow said.
A week before his disappearance, Tatarow's son and child care co- owner, Jerry Tatarow, was visited by a restaurant employee who told him that Longhorn management would have Romper taken away if he continued to be a nuisance.
