Hoarding - 29 cats seized
Warminster, PA (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, Jul 30, 2008
County: Bucks

Charges: Summary, Misdemeanor
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Melanie Cooper Wilk

SPCA workers removed 29 cats from a flea-infested, trash-filled Warminster apartment and charged the owner, Melanie Cooper Wilk, 56, with animal cruelty and other summary offenses. Cooper Wilk's hearing on the charges is scheduled for Tuesday.

SPCA officials and township inspectors were called to the two-bedroom Bucks Landing apartment in late July after a maintenance worker complained about a stench. Once inside, they found trash piled up and "cats and kittens running everywhere," court records said.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
