Sheriff's investigators seized 21 horses at a property on the 900 block of Rio Vista in Socorro.

Jessie Miller from Animal Cruelty Heartline of El Paso assisted deputies with getting the animals out.

Some had no food or water and were severely malnourished.

The horses are now being cared of at an upper valley ranch.

The owner of the property could face charges, and individual owners of the horses could get them back.
