An Arthur, Illinois puppy mill has been shut down. More than 50 dogs are safe following a rescue at a rural Douglas County, Illinois home.

Authorities say the owners were running a puppy mill.

Almost all the animals show signs of neglect, with overgrown nails and matted hair and some of the dogs were injured.

Two puppies were actually found dead in their cage.
