A Princeton woman faces a charge of animal cruelty after an investigation by local officers Sunday evening.

Crystal L. Oliver, 23, of Rose Avenue, was arrested at 7:08 p.m. Sunday on a charge of second-degree cruelty to animals.

Officers responding to a complaint in the 400 block of Rose Avenue found a puppy tied to a mailbox and "in a severe state of neglect," police said.

Oliver, the owner, was taken into custody and lodged in the county jail, investigators said.

The puppy was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment.
