more information on voting

When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.

Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "People’s Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isn’t enough.

Cat tortured, kicked, burned, drowned
Parchment, MI (US)

Incident Date: Tuesday, Feb 26, 2008
County: Kalamazoo

Charges: Felony CTA
Disposition: Convicted

Defendant/Suspect: Terri Stimmel

A blind Parchment woman has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and three years of probation after being convicted of killing and torturing her roommate's cat.

An investigation revealed that the cat had been stomped on, its ribs were broken, and the cat's ears and whiskers had also been singed. Terri Stimmel, of Parchment, claimed that she had drowned the cat in the bathtub and then put it in the dryer to dry because her attempts to dry it with a towel were not working. She ended up leaving the cat's body on her roommate's bed.

Stimmel made a statement to the police admitting that she had killed four other cats, a bird and a hamster.

In addition to probation and jail time; Stimmel is to undergo a mental-health evaluation and testing, she will not be allowed to have pets of her own or to be in a place where pets are kept and she cannot be alone with anyone under the age of 17.

Reports say that Stimmel said she doesn't hate animals; she just gets impulses.
