Rabbit shot with blow-darts
Council Bluffs, IA (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, Jul 30, 2008
County: Pottawattamie

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

Council Bluffs Animal Control officials are asking the public for help identifying someone who shot a rabbit with blow-darts.

Chief Animal Control officer Galen Barrett said an animal control officer responded to the 3500 block of Avenue C Wednesday at 10 p.m. after reports of an injured wild rabbit.

The officer discovered three, 3-and-3/4-inch-long blow darts protruding from the rabbit.

The rabbit was captured by animal control and had to be euthanized, Barrett said.

A cruelty to animals investigation is being pursued by animal control, and Barrett said investigators are searching for anyone with information on the incident.

"We would appreciate if anyone who was in that area and might have information would contact us," Barrett said. "We're afraid that if (the person) started by shooting wild animals, where will they go next."

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call animal control at (712) 328-4656.
