Raleigh, NC (US)

Incident Date: Monday, Jul 28, 2008
County: Wake

Charges: Misdemeanor
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Alina M. Yagger

Police charged a Virginia woman Tuesday with leaving her pet dog inside her vehicle while she visited a North Raleigh mall and shopped for over an hour, court records show.

The incident occurred Monday, when temperatures reached at least 92 degrees, police reported.

Police issued a criminal summons against Alina M. Yagger, 44, of Fincastle, Va., charging her with misdemeanor cruelty to animals, according to records filed Tuesday morning at the Wake County Magistrate's Office.

The violation occurred Monday at the Triangle Town Center mall, police reported.

Police have accused Yagger of leaving Lucy, her black, 3-year-old cocker spaniel, locked inside a white Cadillac Escalade in the mall parking lot.

Additional information about the incident or Lucy's condition and whereabouts was not available, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said Tuesday.

Yagger was cited and released.
