Police arrested a man they say repeatedly slammed a puppy into a concrete block wall. Lawrence Jay Barber, 32, of 8845 52nd St. N., was charged with cruelty to an animal, according to an arrest affidavit.
Barber was at his residence Friday when he held the small dog by its collar and slammed it into the wall, causing the dog to bleed, the affidavit says. It does not list the puppy's condition. Barber was being held Saturday at the Pinellas County Jail with bail set at $5,000.
