Muskogee police are trying to find out who shot a small dog through the neck with an arrow.

Officer Brad Holt says police were notified Thursday morning about a dog wandering around with an arrow through its neck.

A local veterinarian removed the arrow and says the animal is recovering nicely.

Police say someone has been found to adopt the dog if an owner doesn't come forward, police said. Holt says whoever shot the dog could face charges of animal cruelty.
