Alleged: Bernard J. Venhuizen

Venhuizen of 17726 Roy St. was charged with felony reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated cruelty to an animal after he shot a 3-year-old Rottweiler to death.

When police arrived on the scene at the 17700 block of Burnham Avenue, they found the dead black dog with a gun shot in the back.  The dog's owners said they heard the shot and ran outside.  A witness told police that he saw the shooter running away.  When Venhuizen was located, the witness identified him as the shooter.
