Hoarding - 67 cats seized from apartment
Meriden, CT (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, May 28, 2008
County: New Haven

Charges: Misdemeanor
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Patti Nadeau

A 41-year-old Meriden woman has been charged with animal cruelty involving 67 cats found in her apartment. Police have charged Patti Nadeau with four counts of animal cruelty. Police say they found the dozens of cats living in what they describe as unsanitary conditions in May.

Nadeau says while living conditions were tight and could get dirty, she would never harm her cats.

Nadeau was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court Tuesday [July 8, 2008] on the charges which stem from the death of two of the cats within a week of their being released to the Meriden Humane Society.

She has been released after posting $5,000 bond and no new court date has been set.
