Troy Police are offering a $500 reward leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for a brutal mutilation death of a cat found in the Hudson River last month.

Police say the remains of a brown shorthair tabby cat were found in a yellow luggage bag in shallow water at the foot of Madison St. in Troy June 8th.

Autopsy on the animal indicated the cat was tortured and mutilated while it was still alive, Det. David Dean said.

Police are now looking for a possible owner and for the person who tortured and killed the cat.

The reward money is being offered by the New York State Humane Association.
