Matthew J. Bower, 25, of Silver Spring Twp., pleaded guilty in Cumberland County Court July 1, 2008 to an animal cruelty charge for killing a friend's 10-week-old puppy.

East Pennsboro Twp. police said Bower strangled the puggle in November after it soiled some bedding.

Bower had no sentencing agreement in return for his plea, Senior Assistant District Attorney John Dailey said. Judge Edward E. Guido is to sentence him in August.
