Improper care of 2 horses Crown Point, IN (US)Incident Date: Friday, Apr 13, 1990 County: Lake
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: » Julie Pappas » Pete Engelhardt
The horse owners were given 10 days to correct problems or risk loosing them. They have been told to repair fences around the property at 4204 W. 133rd Ave, and to provide a grazing area for the horses and build a better shelter.
Several complaints were received from people concerned about the welfare of the 2 horses, an 18-year-old mare and a 28-year-old gelding. The horses were thin but not starving. They were unable to reach shelter after being tied up to prevent them from wandering. In the past they had wandered into the road through an opening in the fence, creating a traffic hazard. The shelter was found to be cluttered with debris and manure. References « More cases in Lake County, IN
