Around 8 p.m. June 27 an officer responded to a business in the 1300 block of Seventh Street for an animal cruelty report. A caller reported a man had cut the ears off a pit bull and was keeping it at the business.

The man, who spoke only Spanish, said he cropped his dog's ears.

The officers noted the dog cowering in the corner with blood on its ears and on the floor.

An officer explained to the man what he had done was illegal and should only be done by a veterinarian.

The dog was confiscated and the officer noted intent to obtain an arrest warrant for animal cruelty.
