A family's dog is in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound and the family wants to know who would do such a thing.
The incident happened Sunday in a Gresham cul-de-sac.
Paula Ruiz, the dog's owner, said her 8-year-old daughter, Nerida Gonzalez, was the first on the scene. The young girl heard their dog crying and ran outside to see what was going on.
"And when I saw him dragging, I ran to him and I saw blood on him," she said.
A concerned neighbor, who did not wish to be identified, called KATU News.
"He was dragging his legs, his behind when she (the girl) picked him up," she said. "He wanted to come home. Oh my God. He's not my dog, but he's a living being and he's her doggie."
C.C. had surgery Monday morning, but we do not yet know how it went. The report from the veterinarian on Sunday was that the dog was shot in the spine and could end up paralyzed.
Ruiz's vet bill is expected to be up to $5,000. She said she tried to report the shooting to Gresham police but they told her she needed to contact Animal Control. References |
