Henning was charged with one count of cruelty to animals and one count of failure to dispose of a dead animal properly.
2 horses were found dead at the family farm on Elms Court Lane.� A 3rd horse, named Nikki, was alive but severely malnourished and 300 pounds underweight.
Hennings mother discovered the 3 horses.� She notified volunteers at the Hooved Animals Humane Society, based in McHenry County.� Hennings moved away from the farm about 1 month prior and had stopped caring for the horses.� The surviving quarter horse and 1 dead horse were found in a locked barn.� The 3rd horse had been dragged out to the middle of a cornfield and covered with a blanket.� It had been dead for nearly 5 months.
The surviving horse was transferred to a foster farm in Monee, where she will stay until she is healthy enough to be put up for adoption.� The HS say the horse is likely to recover.� The normal weight for a full-grown horse is 1000 pounds. References « More cases in Randolph County, IN
