One Grants Pass man offers a reward to find the person responsible for leaving a one-year-old pit bull out to die near Grants Pass.
Gordon DeYoung and his two sons Michael and Robbie, have spent days putting dozens of these signs around town...they're offering a significant cash reward for any information that will lead to the person responsible for abusing and abandoning Myracle.
After seeing the images of Myracle, brutally abused, the DeYoungs decided to launch their own effort with hopes some posters will lead to an arrest.
"We're seeing it too often around here," said Gordon DeYoung. "Dogs left mutilated, hurt, abandoned like this. I think this person is a danger to our community."
They're convinced someone had to have seen her with somebody, and putting her picture around town, will help that person step forward with information.
"I feel our community suffers as a whole when something like this is done people look to authorities to take charge I think private citizens need to stand up and get the ball rolling," he said.
For now he's telling people to hold onto their donations, until someone calls in with the right information.
Meanwhile, Myracle is still being kept in isolation. The Rogue Valley Humane Society says she's doing surprisingly well. The open wounds once infested by maggots, are beginning to heal and say Myracle, is full or surprises.
"Attitude is what amazes us the most she still has not triggered on anything," said Christina Reed, the manager of the shelter.
Reed says many people have expressed interest in adopting her but the ideal parents will not have any other animals or children because with her history of abuse, she could snap at any time. She says Myracle isn't the only abused dog out there, she was just the lucky one.
"It's a miracle she was found and saved who knows how many others they've done this to and have not made it," Reed said.
The Humane Society says they're going to try to keep Myracle for at least two months to make sure her wounds heal and she can socialize with other dogs.
Josephine County Animal Control is continuing their investigation into the incident and are following several leads for now.
Myracle's abuser could face first degree animal abuse and neglect charges that could involve prison times and up to a $2,000 fine.
