more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Cow starved to death Moncton, NB (CA)Incident Date: Saturday, Dec 22, 2007
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Clarence Stiles
An Elgin man has been fined after pleading guilty to neglecting his cows. Clarence Stiles was charged in Moncton provincial court yesterday [June 24, 2008] with failing to provide food, water, shelter and/or care to an animal on Dec. 22. He pleaded guilty to the charge at the first opportunity.
"I really don't have the time to deal with this in court, I just wanted to pay the fine and get rid of it," Stiles told Judge Anne Dugas-Horsman.
The SPCA was called with a report of a dead cow in Stiles' field in Elgin. An animal protection officer investigated and had the dead animal examined, which determined it was emaciated.
The charge was laid because the animal may not have had sufficient food and shelter. A vet checked out the other cows, which were later moved to a different location with improved shelter.
"We were working on a new barn and the weather got ahead of us," Stiles explained to the judge.
The Crown requested a minimum fine of $172.50, which the judge imposed, giving Stiles 45 days to pay. There was no request made by the Crown to ban him from owning or caring for animals, which is sometimes made in animal neglect cases. References
