A man returned to his apartment to find his pet parakeet had been stomped to death, his aquarium smashed and most of his belongings had been smashed or cut. The man was targeted because he was spending time with a woman who was in the process of divorcing the man who was arrested for the crimes.
Haack, was arrested on charges of animal cruelty, criminal mischief, residential entry, public intoxication and resisting arrest. Another apartment resident reported hearing breaking noises in the victim's apartment. That man reported seeing Haack's breaking items with a hammer. He tried to get the hammer out of Haack's hands but during the struggle Haacks fell down the stairs. When police arrived Haacks was running away. Haacks was taken to Porter Memorial Hospital then was booked into Porter County Jail.
