Cat set on fire

A Pasadena man is going to prison for killing his neighbor's cat. Danny Villalta pleaded guilty Friday [June 13, 2008] to a charge of cruelty to animals for setting the cat on fire.

Villalta was sentenced to 16 months in prison.

Police say the woman who owns the cat saw him set it on fire in the courtyard of their Pasadena apartment complex on February 21.

The cat didn't survive.

Villalta fled the area, but police were able to identify him with the help of other tenants at the complex.
