a 6-month-old filly was found bloodied and near death after being stabbed more than 150 times with a pitchfork and whipped with an electrical cord. The horse, known to stable hands as "BooBoo" is recovering from the wounds.
Ommart told police that he stabbed the horse because his cousin had a grudge against the horse's owner, Dotty Smith. Ommart of 11619 Woodmar Ave. Cedar, IN posted a $1000 cash bond and pleaded innocent.
A second, unidentified man has been implicated in the stabbing and has fled to Kentucky to avoid arrest.
$900 was collected and set up in a reward fund by 2 stable hands. The horses recovery has already cost $1200 in medical bills.
Ommart plead guilty to the stabbing of the horse and for stealing a credit card. He was sentenced to 1 year on each count - all but 90 days were suspended.

Ommart violated the terms of his probation when he moved from a Wheatfield address where he was living at the time of sentencing to Evansville without notifying the probation department. Ommart was also arrested for shoplifting in Jasper County on May 30, 1993 and failed to make his probation reports nor has he made restitution to his victims.
