On May 20, agents from the Timmins and District Humane Society responded to a call from a concerned Chapleau resident, who had entered an abandoned shed to find the burnt cat in a dryer.
"The cat is dead," said humane society manager and SPCA agent Lynn Michaud. "We've sent the body to Guelph where a necropsy is being done to provide us with more information."
A press release issued by the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) said the events involving the cat took place on May 16 on the property of an abandoned house on Lansdowne Street in Chapleau.
"After all these years, I still can't figure out what's going on in these people's minds that they think this is OK," Michaud said.
