Cat killed
Aloha, OR (US)

Incident Date: Friday, May 30, 2008
County: Washington

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Ryan Daggett

An Aloha man was arrested early May 31 after a confrontation with deputies checking on a report that he had behaved oddly and killed his cat, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies contacted Ryan Daggett, 28, shortly before 2 a.m. at his home in the 18900 block of Southwest Sammy Drive. He told them to leave, then came out with a knife and slashed two tires on their patrol vehicle, said Sgt. Vance Stimler, a sheriff's spokesman.

Deputies ordered Daggett to drop the knife, but he threw it and came at them, Stimler said. When he refused to stop, they used a Taser and pepper spray, but he was not affected and ran away.

Deputies chased and caught him after a struggle. He was taken to Tuality Hospital, then to the Washington County Jail.

Deputies learned that his cat was killed Friday night, Stimler said. Daggett now faces accusations of aggravated animal abuse, criminal mischief, menacing, resisting arrest and unlawful use of a weapon.
