A three-year-old German shepherd dog was shot to in the face while it was in an outdoor enclosure at a house in Monroe County.
The dog was owned by Elizabeth Weller of Robin Hood Lakes development in Polk Township, according to state police at Lehighton.
A news release issued Thursday night said Weller reported finding her dog dead Wednesday in the chain-link-fence enclosure on her property on Robinhood Drive.
State police said the dog was shot with a small-caliber weapon, either a handgun or a rifle.
