Nashville, TN Animal Control Officers are investigating an incident they discovered at 3AM, May 4, 2008 in an East Nashville home. The owner of a 2 month old female Pit Bill puppy named Midnight, allegedly picked up the puppy and shot her in the face. In spite of her injuries, the dog is expected to survive. Animal control says criminal charges are expected. Police are investigating the incident.

The owner of Midnight, the Nashville, the puppy shot in the face in Nashville, has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty and reckless endangerment. Animal control officers said William Taylor was partying, came back to his east Nashville home and started shooting at the pit bull-mix while his kids were in the house.

The dog was shot below her ear, and the bullet came out under her chin. No major bones or organs were hit, but a severed artery made it difficult for veterinarians to get bleeding under control. MIdnight is now recovering well and will remain in custody of local Animal Control until the case is over.
