Kittens abandoned in home, two die Pinellas, FL (US)Incident Date: Saturday, May 3, 2008 County: Pinellas
Disposition: Not Charged

Some abandoned kittens are being nursed back to health in Largo this weekend. A 2-year-old cat was found abandoned at a home in Pinellas County. She had seven kittens. We're told she was completely dehydrated and not producing any milk. Sadly, two of the kittens died from lack of nourishment. Another had to be euthanized. The remaining four kittens are being hand fed by the SPCA's medical staff.
This is the second incident this week where the SPCA has been called to a home to rescue an abandoned animal. They urge neighbors to call them right away if they suspect someone has left behind a pet.
The kittens are not available for adoption yet, because they need to be at least 2 pounds. The mother cat will be first to be adopted. Then, once the kittens are done nursing, they will be adopted as well.
In the meantime, there are plenty of other cats and kittens that need good homes. The SPCA is located at 9099 130th Ave. North, Largo. They are open on Sunday from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. They are open 6 days a week; closed on Mondays. References« FL State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Pinellas County, FL
