A cat locked inside an animal carrier weighted with rocks washed ashore at San Buenaventura State Beach. A stroller on San Buenaventura State Beach found the cat, which was soaked but alive.
The woman walking on the beach about 10 a.m. Wednesday saw the female Himalayan-mix cat inside the carrier that had been tossed ashore by the tide, Dewar said. The cat was treated by a veterinarian and take to the Humane Society shelter in Ojai.
The cat is declawed and has bright blue eyes and long grey, brown, black and white fur.
The Humane Society of Ventura County is offering a $300 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the animal cruelty, Tom Dewar of the society said.
