A Wittmann man was arrested Sunday after Sheriff's deputies found a cockfighting party in his backyard.
Aaron Dean Aliser, 35, admitted to hosting the party, according to court documents.
He told deputies there had been up to 80 people and he charged them $10 each to attend.
Maricopa County Sheriff's Office deputies saw a large number of cars at the home near 225th and Grand avenues, northwest of Surprise.
They heard cheers as they arrived at around 11 a.m.
People at the party ran to their cars and took off when they saw the deputies.
Aliser was charged with 115 counts of cockfighting.
Case UpdatesA Wittman man was sentenced Tuesday to 30 days in prison and three years probation for operating a cockfighting ring.
Aaron Aliser, 35, was convicted on two class five animal cruelty felonies.
On Arpil 27, Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies arrested Aliser when they received a tip that he was hosting a cockfighting party in his backyard.
Aliser admitted to hosting the party, according to court documents.
He told deputies there had been up to 80 people and he charged them $10 each to attend. Investigators said Aliser set up a ring with stadium-style seating for people to watch the roosters fight each other to the death.
Deputies reported seeing a large number of cars parked outside the home near 225th and Grand avenues, northwest of Surprise.
They heard cheers as they arrived.
People at the party ran to their cars and took off when they saw the deputies.
