weak sentence = one star
strong sentence = 5 stars

more information on voting

When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.

Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "People’s Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isn’t enough.

Farmed animal neglect, pile of dead horses found
Cookeville, TN (US)

Incident Date: Tuesday, Apr 15, 2008
County: Putnam

Disposition: Convicted

Defendant/Suspect: John Huddleston

Case Updates: 1 update(s) available

Police charged John Huddleston with animal cruelty after a sheriff's deputy discovered a pile of dead horses in Huddleston's field.

The sheriff's deputy also discovered dozens of other animals living in deplorable conditions.

There was also a number of surviving animals, which included horses, pigs, dogs, and chickens. All the living animals were severely malnourished.

Huddleston allegedly told the deputy he couldn't afford to feed the animals, and the horses just got sick and died.

Case Updates

A Putnam County man who allowed his horses to starve to death has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty. John Huddleston was sentenced to probation and 200 hours of community service at an animal shelter. He also has to donate $500 to the animal shelter.

Back in April 2008, investigators discovered a pile of dead animals in a pasture and more than a dozen others being kept in inhumane conditions. Huddleston told deputies he couldn't afford to feed the animals.
