Fifty dogs that were seized in a Tulsa County animal-cruelty case are now available for adoption.
"They have been brought back to health, and now they need good homes," Tulsa County Deputy David Long said.
Deputies who responded to an alarm call in November found 58 dogs in poor health in a shed near a house in Collinsville, Long said.
The shed had been outfitted with small cages, and the dogs apparently had been bred to be sold. However, the breeding operation had not been active for at least a year, Long said.
Sheriff's Capt. Linda Devoe said the conditions were "deplorable," and eight of the dogs were either dead when they were found or died soon thereafter.
The other 50 dogs were taken into custody as evidence in the case and taken to the Tulsa Animal Shelter.
They could not be released for adoption until they were forfeited as part of the court proceedings against Gordon and Helen Hall, who have been charged with animal cruelty.
The breeds available for adoption are Maltese, schipperke, miniature schnauzer, Chihuahua and silky terrier.
To adopt one of these dogs or any other, visit the Tulsa Animal Animal Shelter at 3031 N. Erie Ave.
