Child raped, horse and dogs sexually assaulted

An Alberta man facing dangerous offender status for repeatedly raping his daughter and having sex with dogs and a horse poses a moderate to high risk of re-offending.
The 53-year-old man should also not be allowed to have any contact with children, vulnerable adults or animals without adequate supervision, says a psychiatric report prepared for his upcoming dangerous offender hearing.
The report concludes the Edmonton-area father is not a psychopath, but does say he suffers from sexual deviancy and pedophilia and has an elevated sex drive.
The psychiatrists recommend the man be placed in a long-term, intensive treatment program requiring his participation in daily treatment sessions.
The report also notes the man is in denial and, despite pleading guilty and signing an agreed statement of facts for his latest charges and admitting other past criminal sexual behavior, he is now denying many of his offences.
He also downplayed his risk of future re-offending.
"Since changing my life through pills I take, bible reading and my love towards others and understanding other peoples love for me and God's love, I am changed into a new person," he wrote.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the victim's identity, is to begin his hearing June 16.
If found to be a dangerous offender, he would get an indefinite sentence.
In May, he pleaded guilty to committing incest and sexually assaulting his daughter over a 14-year period.
He also admitted committing bestiality with dogs and a horse over a 16-year period and trying to get the victim's younger sister to sexually touch him.
Court heard the man had earlier served a two-year sentence in the 1990s after being convicted of sexually assaulting the daughter and other children.
After being let out, the man was allowed to live with his family in a trailer west of the city.
On his second day out, he raped his then-eight-year-old daughter, an event which occurred almost nightly for the next 14 years.
According to agreed facts, the victim tried several times to tell her mother what was going on, but then always denied it out of fear when her mother confronted her father.
Court heard the man also regularly showed pornographic movies to the victim and her younger sister.
Court also heard the man always owned female dogs and had sex with them all.
"If the dogs would not have sex, he would beat them with chains or bats. He would choke the dogs to try to get what he needed. If the animals would not have sex with him, the animal would end up dead."
The victim said she often saw her dad having sex with their dogs and her horse and once, he raped her and tried to make her have sex with the dog. However, she began crying hysterically and the dog almost bit him.
The victim moved out in 2005, and, after arranging for her mom and sisters to secretly leave, she went to police. References |
