Lt. Andrew Kaho of the Greenville Police Department said the two other men arrested for dog fighting, Elvis Battle, 31, and Ronnie Thomas, 22, both of Greenville, will make their initial appearances March 20, 2008 in municipal court.
Bail was set at $50,000 each for Elvis Battle, 31, and Ronnie Thomas, 22, both of Greenville. They were arrested at 414 Cately Street Tuesday after a neighbor complained to police about dog fighting in the area.
Police say Battle and Thomas were found with pit bulls in their possession. The dogs all had scars consistent with dog fighting, according to veterinarians at the animal hospital where they were treated.
The men face felony dog fighting charges, as well as misdemeanor charges for animal cruelty and failure to confine, failure to register and failure to tag the pit bulls.
According to The Humane Society of the United States, possession of dogs for fighting is a felony offense in Mississippi, punishable by one to three years in prison and a $1,000 to $5,000 fine.
