Pit bull neglect, 15 seized
Robbins, IL (US)

Incident Date: Friday, Jan 4, 2008
County: Cook

Charges: Misdemeanor
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: James Foster

A Robbins man who was keeping 15 pit bulls in a small, filthy trailer in a junkyard was arrested Friday and charged with animal abuse, authorities said.

James Foster, 59, of the 2900 block of Claire Boulevard was charged with 15 counts of misdemeanor animal abuse and 15 counts of not providing the dogs with adequate veterinary care, according to the Cook County sheriff's office.

Acting on a tip, police found Foster living in a one-room trailer with the pit bulls, police said.

Police said Foster, had been breeding and selling dogs for nearly four years, possibly for fighting purposes.

Foster is being held by sheriff's police pending a Saturday court hearing, said sheriff's spokeswoman Penny Mateck.
