County: BossierDisposition: Alleged
Abuser names unreleased
An Ark-La-Tex dog was shot and killed while in its own backyard, allegedly by a next door neighbor.
Bossier sheriff's deputies cited the neighbor with cruelty to an animal for shooting a pit bull named Gage through a fence in Haughton.
The dog's owner, Shana Burke, says she found Gage lying next to the fence in a pool of blood Wednesday morning.
Burke says she constantly had problems with her neighbor, who she says didn't like her dogs.
Burke also says a summons isn't enough. Wednesday night, family and friends held a ceremony for Gage, who they say was just like a member of the family.
