Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

Someone shot a dog a couple of days ago and left it in a desolate part of the county, where it hid under a tree with another dog until they were found Thursday morning.

Mason County Animal Control Officer Lisa Greenlee thinks the dogs were abandoned, because the old dog has hip problems and there is no way she could walk to where I found her, it was too desolate.

The wounded dog looked scared - ears back and tail tucked between her legs - while veterinarian Dr. Marlena Hill shaved off fur and dried, clotted blood at noon Thursday to reveal her wounds. She looked scared but did not move or whimper while Hill worked on her.

There are lots of little holes in her right side, front leg, part of her chest and foot. It was shot with a shotgun, veterinarian assistant Sheree Foruria said after the examination, adding that some of the holes looked to be infected and the dog is receiving antibiotics to fight the infection.
