A family in North Albany is offering a $50 reward for information leading to the person who shot their 5-year-old miniature Australian shepherd while the dog played in its backyard on Rosa Lane.
The dog, Belle, survived but still has pellets in her shoulder, said owner Katie Leventhal.
Leventhal said she did not hear any shots around 4 p.m. Monday but said her dog came to the door at that time with blood on her foot.
"I parted the hair on her chest and saw more blood," she said. "If she'd been hit closer to her heart or her throat, she would have died."
Leventhal said the shooter probably shot the dog through a hole in her wooden fence.
Anyone with information about the shooting should call the Albany Police at 917-7680. If you have information on this case, please contact: Albany Police 917-7680
