Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Jarmine R. Gibson
Authorities investigating complaints on Wednesday of illegal dogfights at a Donaldsonville residence found 29 pit bulls on the premises and arrested a 21-year-old man, Louisiana State Police said in a news release Thursday.
Jarmine R. Gibson of McKinley Street was booked with dogfighting, aggravated cruelty to animals and resisting arrest, Trooper Johnnie Brown said in the news release.
A joint investigation by the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations, Louisiana Gaming Enforcement and the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office led to Gibson's arrest, Brown said.
Through undercover operations and information from confidential informants, authorities learned that Gibson had 12 pit bulls on his property that had suffered injuries consistent with taking part in dogfights, Brown said.
When officers went to Gibson's home Wednesday with a search warrant, they found the 29 pit bulls.
The dogs were removed from the McKinley Street residence and turned over to the Louisiana Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Ascension Parish Animal Control, Brown said. References « More cases in Ascension County, LA
