Dog found starving
Trenton, OH (US)

Incident Date: Monday, Mar 3, 2008
County: Butler

Charges: Misdemeanor
Disposition: Alleged
Case Images: 1 files available

Alleged: Tera C. Minyard-Doane

Eve, a 2-year-old boxer who was found underweight and starving outside her home in Hamilton, is looking for a good home – and her owner is looking at possible jail time.

On Monday, Butler County dog wardens arrested Eve's owner, Tera C. Minyard-Doane of the 1100 block of Goodman Avenue. Minyard-Doane was taken to the county jail while Eve recovers at a local veterinary clinic, said Leland Gordon, executive director of Butler's Animal Friends Humane Society.

Animal control officials found Eve was left outside and extremely skinny – almost 20 pounds underweight – on March 3, Gordon said.

"For a dog that size, that's a big amount to be underweight," he said, noting a healthy weight for a boxer Eve's size would be about 60 pounds.

This past weekend, after Minyard-Doane was already charged in connection with Eve's alleged neglect, two other dogs that were identified as Minyard-Doane's were found abandoned at a Millville gas station, Gordon said.

As a result, Minyard-Doane was charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty and two counts of animal abandonment.

The cases will be heard this week in Hamilton Municipal Court and Butler County Area II court. Anyone interested in adopting Eve may call the Animal Friends Humane Society in Trenton 513-867-5005.
