The McLennan County Sheriff's Office is investigating claims of possible animal abuse after a family dog was found shot to death in Lorena.

Witnesses say they say a person was seen holding a pellet gun at the time of the shooting that happened on the 900 block of Estes Road, but they say they didn't see that person actually fire the gun.

There are no charges filed at this time and sheriff's deputies are not releasing much information.

There are reports that other families in the area are expected to file complaints about other suspected animal abuse incidents.
