Miami police have charged a Little Havana man in connection with the shooting death of a dog.
Police say they responded to SW 23rd Avenue and 10th Street Wednesday morning to a report of a man who shot and killed a dog.
Police say the 68-year old Osvaldo Morejon told them that the dog first attacked him and that's when he opened fire and shot the dog.
However, a witness told police that's not what happened at all.
According to the police report, Morejon called the dog over to him. When the dog began walking over to him in a calm manner, Morejon shot the dog once, looked around and then walked back to his apartment building.
The stray dog died after being shot.
Morejon has been charged with one count of Cruelty to Animals and one count of Use of a Firearm in the commission of a Felony.
Police did not release a motive for the shooting. References« FL State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Miami-Dade County, FL
