A tip into the ABC23 newsroom via MySpace has uncovered disturbing information that someone has been dumping dead dogs in a vacant field in south Bakersfield.
Chris Seaton works in the area and has been documenting the animals he has seen.
According to Seaton, many of the dogs were placed in bags. He said he has seen pit bulls that have been torn up and other dogs that have been burned. There have also been roosters thrown into the field, Seaton said.
Seaton said he wants the dumping to stop. So in December 2007 he started taking pictures. "I'm hoping some cameras get put up," he said.
Seaton believes the pits and roosters were used in fights and their remains are left in the empty field.
According to Animal Control, it is illegal to dump animals in any field and there are appropriate ways to dispose of dead animals, including burying or taking dead animals to local veterinarians or animal control centers.
